Cherokee Trail Elementary teachers participated in learning about concussions and traumatic brain injuries during a Professional Learning Community meeting. School nurse Maegan Balchin reviewed the first aid steps to take when a child has a head injury at school. Greenville's West End Co-Op provided cookies for the staff, made by individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries at the Roger C. Peace Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. Based on Nurse Balchin's presentation and pamphlets provided through Roger C. Peace TBI Outreach, teachers also discussed what impact head injuries have on student motivation and achievement.
